Speaker Of Parliament Demands Reasons For Betty's Resignition

Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament is demanding explanations from embattled former Minister of Education, Betty Mould Iddrisu over her decision to exit from office.

Prof. Mike Aaron Oquaye argues assertions that there are no grounds for the former minister to offer an explanation is flawed, adding, those assertions only pass for some special instances.

Mrs. Betty Mould-Iddrisu resignation last Monday has raised some eye browses as it came just a week after her successor, Martin Amidu was fired as Justice Minister and Attorney General for what the Castle said was “misconduct”.

Martin Amidu’s dismissal came in the midst of his resolve to retrieve the over fifty million cedis paid to perceived NDC financier, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, as judgement debt.

Payment of the judgment was made under the tenure of Betty Mould Iddrisu as Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

But Prof. Mike Oquaye believes Betty Mould Iddrisu must give detailed accounts of roles she played in payment of the judgment debt which informed her decision to quit.

The Second Deputy Speaker who is also Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya argues, a resignation will not clear the Betty Mould from either legal or moral liability since it does not answer all the questions the tax payer demands.

He spoke to Muftaw Mohammed in an exclusive interview.
