Leave Woyome Alone! TEIN Yells
The intellectual wing of the ruling National Democratic Congress has waded into the raging controversy over payment of judgement debt to perceived financier of the party, Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
Presidents of the various Tertiary Education Institutions Network in the Ashanti region have collectively expressed what it calls “deepest regret and sadness” about the recent attacks against the personality of Alfred Agbesi Woyome over payment of judgment debt to him.
Speaking to Muftaw Mohammed, president of the KNUST branch of the Network, Samuel Gyamfi observes allegations of fraudulent claims and complicity leveled against Alfred Woyome and the NDC government respectively by the NPP and its cohorts are not only misplaced but flawed and ill informed.
Gyamfi however is disappointed the NPP led attack which he says is shamefully being championed by the Minority in parliament and AFAG has received the support of some individuals in the National Democratic Congress too.
Explaining
circumstances that led to the payment of judgment to Alfred Agbesi Woyome,
Samuel Gyamfi argues payment of the forty two million cedis judgement debt is procedurally
justified. Meanwhile Samuel Gyamfi is demanding answers to why former president
John Kuffour allegedly authorized the unilateral termination of the agreement
in contravention with the Procurement Act and then Sports Minister, Osafo
Marfo’s advice in his memo to cabinet dated July 27 2005.
Meanwhile in a latest development, the man who has become key player of the raging national controversy over the payment of alleged 58 million cedis has been confessing to the debate.
Alfred Agbesi Woyome explains he actually received a little over 51 million and not the various figures being put out there by contributors to the matter.
Alfred
Woyome made the confession in an interview with the Africa Watch Magazine.

Just wanted to ask few questions. 1. Why did the then deputy minister of MoFEP, Kwaku Agyeman- Manu wrote a letter to introduce Woyome to Bank Austria and Co on 4/5/05 if there is no legal relation between govt and Woyome? 2. Why was the 7 page cabinet memo written on the 27/07/05 by Yaw Osafo-Maafo then minister of ministry of edu and sport to warn govt of the illegality and its consequences of truncating the procurement process ignored? Why was the contract giving to the shangai co which did not bid for the job? Why was waterville's claim for cost of actual work done paid but but Woyome's claim for the financial engineering has become fraudulent? Hmm, Ghana!
